Our Story

Meet Kristin & Kyle

After living the surf culture of San Diego—where life is shaped by the water, early mornings, and a community built around shared time outside—we moved to Texas with a clear vision: to bring that same feeling to the lake. Austin Surf Lodge was created as a place where guests can experience the energy of surf culture in an unexpected setting—blending adventure, connection, and deep relaxation.

More Than a Stay

The lodge is built around the experiences we love most: riding your first wave behind a boat, jumping into cool lake water after a hot sauna session, intentional movement and workouts, slow mornings, and evenings around the fire pit with great food and company.

Kyle leads all the on-the-water experiences. After owning a watersports business in San Diego, he brought his passion for teaching, training, and wakesurfing to Austin. A certified personal trainer and lifelong athlete, he now guides wakesurf lessons, charters, and lake experiences designed to help guests build confidence and have fun on the water.

Kristin shapes the vision for the space itself. With a background spanning real estate, design, marketing, and hospitality, she worked as a luxury real estate broker for over 15 years. She later spent two years traveling the country and studying distinctive stays and what makes them feel memorable, thoughtful, and comfortable.

Together, we hosted adventure retreats in destinations like Lake Tahoe and Lake Havasu and built a woodburning sauna inside a vintage Airstream, bringing mobile sauna and cold plunge experiences to communities in San Diego and now Austin. Austin Surf Lodge is the culmination of everything we've built—a place for gathering, adventure, and slowing down.
